This book was such a delightful too read, but I have one question........What was the inspiration behind these unique stories ? The first story The Devil Inside deals with the big C....cancer and what happens when you depend on your chemotherapy......The second story, Corpse Confetti ans Pork Rinds ( the title alone draws you in ) is a story that deals with the homeless and a shelter that is more than what it seems......Next we have Howling Lake, this short story is about some land that has a curse on it, and some flying creatures that will disrupt the life of any one who tries to live on this land...........Last we have The Real Zombies, this story deals with a scientist whose experiment goes terribly wrong.Product details

Winter Chill eBook Kenya MossDyme Sentu Taylor DK Mason Omar Tyree K and T Graphics Reviews
I love horror. This was a very interesting read. The first story I absolutely loved. It drew me in from the very first page and held my attention. I didn't want to put the book down for anything, because I just had to find out what was going to happen next. I felt the story flowed well, and the end left me wanting more. The second started out good. It flowed well until the ending. I hated that it came to an abrupt stop. It left me with a big question mark, like why would it end that way? The third story, I wasn't feeling too much. I kept waiting for something to happen, and when it finally did, I was at the end of the story. I ended up like, "that's it?" The fourth story I loved. It flowed well as well. It also had a great ending, and left me wanting more. I had to take a star away because there were several errors through out the book, and I wasn't really feeling the third story too much. It was a bit boring in my oppinion. Overall, I liked the first and fourth stories the best. Good job.
Four great stories, all with believable characters and very good plots. I thought the twist Ms. Dyme used on the chemotherapy treatment in her story was very clever. But I truly enjoyed D.K. Mason's Howling Lake story, a real page turner with great detail and such a great plot. All in all you can't lose with this book.
WINTERS_CHILL Lead by a New York Times bestselling author Omar Tyree , KenyaMoss- dyme, Sentu Taylor, D.K Mason, is a compilation of 4 horror stories that at first glance seemed to gruesome for me to read. However these 4 authors grabbed and drew you in to each story from the very first word. Surprisingly the break out stories was generated from the 3 virtually unnamed authors. The stories generated by these authors were nail biting, gruesome, yet subtle. Even if you have never read a horror story or looking for a “different “ read I suggest you start with WINTER CHILL, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because these are excellent horror stories but won’t have you missing sleep at night.
These "Four Tales of Horror That Will Leave You Cold" unfortunately did just that for me. I was very disappointed with the short stories in this book, especially after having read all the positive reviews posted here. There are several interesting ideas here, but the stories are badly written, the characters are one-dimensional and unrealistic, and the dialogue is often laughably stilted. In addition, the editing on this book is atrocious. Even Omar Tyree's story, "Real Life Zombies," reads like something he wrote in high school before he published his first novel. Kenya Moss-Dyme's story, "Devil Inside," about a woman undergoing cancer treatments who undergoes a strange metamorphosis, is the best-written story, but it's confusing and under-developed, and the ending is a bit too reminiscent of the ending of the classic "Amelia" episode in the Karen Black TV film "Trilogy of Terror." Other potentially effective stories are derailed by laughable passages such as the following (punctuation errors included)
1) "Yeah? That's real clever coming from a couple of over the hill homos that play cock hockey in their cubicles with each other all day." Cordell chaffed assertively.
2) "I never seent you 'round here before but you sho' is good people C-Funk." Whiskey mused with an idyllic tone as intoxication was coming to town
3) "He secretly wished that he could be alone with her, lie by her side and admire her smooth curvy body before parting her legs to become enraptured in her golden treasure."
4) "He moaned and shook violently in the passenger seat with the left side of his face bitten off and his eyeball hanging out. The driver looked at his bloody, flesh hanging mug and was grossed out."
5) "Shucks," Lance piped. He spotted several infected humans chasing after new victims. And they moved fast, too. "Is this really happening?" the boy asked from the backseat in disbelief. He watched and listened in alarm to the horror that was unfolding all around them.
With better writing and editing, this collection could have been a winner. The writers are obviously fans of horror fiction, but I found these amateurishly-written stories painful to read. Less demanding readers may feel differently.
For those looking for good short horror fiction by Black writers, I recommend "The Ancestors"; Brandon Massey's ground-breaking anthologies ("Voices from the Other Side", "Dark Dreams", and "Whispers in the Night"); and "Ghost Summer" by the incomparable Tananarive Due.
Interesting read. I like the stories. Enjoyed the story by DKMason best.
This is a great little collection of stories. Very scary and very entertaining. They will might keep you up at night but you'll enjoy every minute.
I really enjoyed this book, Kenya Moss Dyme had a very well written piece that was very smoothly written, and made me shutter in a few parts. Sentu Taylor`s story was great but I've read his work before so I expected it this to be good as well. I love his dark, subtle satirical humor that I'm beginning to believe is his trademark. Deb K Mason`s story, didn't grab me at initially, but as I read on it sucked me in and took me on a complete mind trip. I really didn't see that ending coming and that's what makes a great writer. Omar Tyree`s name on the cover surprised me, I'm very familiar with his work, love his work, but I could never picture him as a horror writer. After reading this, I'm still undecided. But the stories of Dyme, Taylor, and Mason where good enough for me to still give it 5 stars.
This book was such a delightful too read, but I have one question........What was the inspiration behind these unique stories ? The first story The Devil Inside deals with the big C....cancer and what happens when you depend on your chemotherapy......The second story, Corpse Confetti ans Pork Rinds ( the title alone draws you in ) is a story that deals with the homeless and a shelter that is more than what it seems......Next we have Howling Lake, this short story is about some land that has a curse on it, and some flying creatures that will disrupt the life of any one who tries to live on this land...........Last we have The Real Zombies, this story deals with a scientist whose experiment goes terribly wrong.
